Fall is FINALLY in the air. We had about a 30 degree drop over the past couple of days and it has been wonderful.
One of the things that we love in this house is a good cup of cocoa. The “cold” weather has triggered my desire to have a morning cocoa and I thought I would share this recipe. I found this one day when I was out of cocoa mix and REALLY wanted some hot cocoa. It comes from cooks.com. I wouldn’t call this “dark” chocolate, but it is definitely a little more intense than the normal Swiss Miss milk chocolate mix, so you may need to play with the amount of cocoa powder in the recipe. For me, it’s perfect – especially when it is finished off with some whipped topping.
Homemade Hot Cocoa (makes 1 serving)
- 1 T. cocoa
- 2 T. sugar
- 2 T. water
- 1 c. milk
1. Mix cocoa, sugar and water together in a mug and microwave for about 30 seconds. This gives you your “syrup”.
2. Add your milk, stir and microwave until it reaches your desired temperature.
3. Top with whipped cream (if you have it on hand) and ENJOY!!!
